Court Registrations and Rights of Audience DIFC Courts (Part 1): Shallon Legal is registered in the DIFC Courts under Part 1. DIFC Courts (Part 2): Our Managing Partner, Paul Hogarty, is registered under Part 2, with full rights of audience in the highest courts. ADGM Courts: Shallon Legal is registered in the ADGM Courts for administrative purposes. Our Managing Partner, Paul Hogarty, holds full rights of audience in the highest ADGM Courts.

Wills and Estate Planning

DIFC Wills We offer drafting and registration services for DIFC Wills to protect assets in the UAE. These Wills exclude the application of Sharia law to the estate and are drafted and registered in English.

The registration process is completed remotely from any location worldwide. The Will is executed electronically via a video link through the DIFC Courts Portal.

ADGM Wills For non-Muslim individuals aged 21 or above, whether resident or non-resident in the UAE, we provide ADGM Wills based on a common law framework governed by ADGM and Abu Dhabi legislation. These cover assets across the UAE.

Our process follows these steps:

Initial Engagement: We issue an engagement letter and invoice for your review. Instruction Meeting: We meet to discuss your estate and take your instructions. Drafting: We prepare a bilingual (English and Arabic) draft that complies with ADGM formalities. Execution: The Will is signed and notarised remotely via a video appointment with the ADGM Courts Notary Public, typically arranged within three to five working days. Registration: The Notary registers the Will and arranges for it to be securely stored with the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD).

Trusts We advise on trust structures designed for asset protection and succession planning. DIFC trust structures can be drafted to reflect any arrangement the client requires, including structures designed to align with Sharia principles, conventional common law trust arrangements, or bespoke hybrid structures, subject to the client's instructions and appropriate legal and religious advice where relevant.
