Forums and rights of audience

• DIFC Courts: Shallon Legal is entered on Part I of the DIFC Courts' Register of Legal Practitioners, under which proceedings are issued and conducted, and our Managing Partner, Paul Hogarty, holds rights of audience under Part II, in his own name, enabling direct representation across the Court of First Instance, the Small Claims Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.

Recent work

Acting for the owner of a Dubai villa whose buyer defaulted under a 2025 sale and purchase agreement and refused to give up possession, Shallon Legal ran the matter from urgent interim relief through to final judgment and recovery.

The firm first secured an urgent possession order in the DIFC Courts, granted to the summary-judgment standard with costs, and then defeated the buyer's application for permission to appeal, the defence having relied on a lease the Court found to be a sham created to obtain a trade licence.

Judgment was entered for the client on 16 July 2026. The Court declared the AED 4,920,000 already paid under the sale and purchase agreement forfeited to the client as liquidated damages, ordered the defendants to pay the accelerated balance of the purchase price of AED 7,330,000, and awarded contractual liquidated damages of AED 521,775.25 as at 8 June 2026, continuing to accrue at AED 2,410.96 per day until payment. Costs were awarded on the indemnity basis and immediately assessed at USD 17,548.30. The total value of the relief obtained exceeds AED 12.7 million, and continues to accrue.
